Share a Claude artifact as a live link

Claude makes pages, charts and small apps on request. Connect it to Openpane, and it can also publish them: each one a page at its own link, private until you share it, that Claude keeps up to date as you ask for changes.

Why Openpane

Claude has its own sharing for artifacts, with options that depend on your plan and your organization's settings: Anthropic's help article explains them. Publishing to Openpane gives you:

  • Every Claude, and your other AIs. The Claude app and Claude Code publish to one Openpane account, as do ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor and any other MCP client.
  • No account needed to view. Make a pane unlisted or public, and anyone with the link opens it in a browser.
  • Private until you share. Or share it with chosen people by email: they sign in with that address to open it.
  • One link that stays current. When Claude changes the pane, the link shows the new version.
  • Embeddable. Put it on your own site with one line of HTML.

From the Claude app

On claude.ai, and in Claude's desktop and mobile apps, Openpane is a custom connector. Claude signs in to Openpane, so there's no API key to copy.

  1. Open connectors

In Claude, go to Customize → Connectors and click Add custom connector. The Free plan allows one custom connector.

    Open claude.ai connectors
  2. Fill in the dialog

Choose Sign in now, then click Add.

    NameOpenpane
    MCP server URLhttps://openpane.oblaidish.com/api/mcp
  3. Allow it on Openpane

Openpane opens: sign in if it asks, check the request and click Allow. You're back in Claude, connected.

  4. Turn it on in a chat

Click + in the message box, choose Connectors and switch on Openpane.

It's listed under Connected apps on Openpane's API keys page, where you can disconnect it.

On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds the connector for everyone: see Connect the Claude app.

From Claude Code

You need an Openpane API key. The API keys page makes one for Claude Code and fills it into every step. Here, the steps show YOUR_API_KEY where it goes.

Make a key for Claude Code

TerminalmacOS · Linux · Windows
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user openpane https://openpane.oblaidish.com/api/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"

Then start claude and ask. Publish HTML from Claude Code has more.

Ask Claude to publish

With Openpane on, ask for a pane, or ask Claude to publish what it just made:

Prompttry it
Make an interactive mortgage calculator as an Openpane pane.
Promptafter an artifact
Publish that as an Openpane pane.

Claude answers with the pane's link. To send it to anyone, ask Claude to make the pane unlisted. To share it with particular people, ask Claude, then approve on the pane's Share page: sharing through Claude is only a request, so a prompt hidden in something Claude reads can't share your work. React artifacts

Claude's React artifacts can use libraries such as Recharts or lucide-react. A React pane can import only react and react-dom, so for anything else, ask for an HTML pane that loads the library from a CDN:

Prompttry it
Publish that as an Openpane pane. If it uses a library besides React, make it an HTML pane that loads the library from a CDN.
