Connect Cursor

ReadyOne-click link · mcp.json · about 30 s

Cursor installs Openpane from a link, or from a few lines in ~/.cursor/mcp.json.

You need an Openpane API key. The API keys page makes one for Cursor and fills it into every step. Here, the steps show YOUR_API_KEY where it goes.

One click

  1. Add to Cursor

    Cursor opens and asks to install Openpane, with your key filled in.

    Get the one-click link

    It carries your key, so the API keys page makes the two together.

  2. Check it

    Open Customize in the sidebar, then MCP: Openpane is on, with seven tools.

mcp.json

  1. Edit ~/.cursor/mcp.json

    Or .cursor/mcp.json in one project. If the file already lists servers, add just the entry inside mcpServers.

    ~/.cursor/mcp.jsonJSON
    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "openpane": {
          "url": "https://openpane.oblaidish.com/api/mcp",
          "headers": {
            "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"
          }
        }
      }
    }
  2. Check it

    Customize → MCP: Openpane is on.

To keep the key out of the file, use "Bearer ${env:OPENPANE_API_KEY}" as the value.

Your first pane

Ask Cursor:

Make me an Openpane pane with a React counter app.

It answers with a link to a private pane, which opens in any browser where you're signed in to Openpane. To show it to others, see Sharing. Cursor now has Openpane's seven tools, to create, update, list, delete and share panes: the MCP server reference lists them.
